Networking is one of the most powerful tools for landing a job. Friends, family, coworkers, neighbors,… pretty much anyone you know could be a potential job connection! Here’s how to build your network and increase your chances of landing the job you want:
- Attend OU Networking Events – Career Fairs, mixers, meet & greets… Pretty much any event involving business professionals is a great way to make professional connections. However, simply attending these events is not enough… you must show employers your enthusiasm and interest in their company!
- Talk to Friends & Family – You never know when or where a job opportunity might present itself, so be active and tell your friends and family that you’re searching! Always keep an open mind and you will be amazed at what opportunities come your way.
- Show Interest and Enthusiasm Towards Others – As a rule of thumb, it is important to always be kind to people and show interest in what others have to say. If you can get someone to like you by doing these things, you’ll be the first one they come to when an opportunity arises!
